These suppression systems rely on the emission of aerosol that is capable of extinguishing a fire within one minute and preventing re-ignition by remaining suspended within the air for up to an hour. The spray is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and will not harm electronic equipment or magnetic tape. Even if the system supplements a regular fire sprinkler system, the sensitive smoke detectors of the suppression system will trigger the aerosol spray and extinguish the fire before the sprinkler system’s heat detectors even recognize the danger and cause the sprinklers to react (and drench your water-sensitive materials).
The system is safe for people and machinery, but it is also very cost effective. It is easy to install, maintain (with a shelf life of over 10 years), and relocate. The potassium-based spray can be cleaned up after a fire by simply venting and dusting the room, eliminating the need for clean up crews.
